Abstract
Photolysis of trans-1,2-difluoro-1,2-di-iodoethene with 248 nm radiati on from an excimer laser yielded difluoroethyne, cis-1,2-difluoro-1,2- di-iodoethene and 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro-3,4-di-iodocyclobutene. Potentia l pathways for these products are presented in terms of the energetics of the reaction, and the dependencies of product formation on pressur e and extent of conversion are discussed.
