A 3.89mg single crystal of fullerene C-60 was grown by sublimation and
its thermodynamic properties were determined through DSC measurements
. The transition temperature and enthalpy are the highest ones that we
re ever measured (T-tr = (261.4+/-0.5)K and Delta(tr)H = (9.0+/-0.5)kJ
mol(-1), respectively) and are thought to be near-standard ones. Howev
er, it is shown that mechanical grinding smears out the DSC transition
peak. Constraints which develop along free (111) surfaces are assumed
to be responsible for this phenomenon.
