Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome is a very rare cause of rectal bleeding
in both children and adults. It is of importance in that it may mimic
other, more serious rectal pathology such as Crohn's disease, ulcerat
ive colitis, villous papilloma, or carcinoma. We report an unusual cau
se of rectal bleeding in a child due to solitary rectal ulcer syndrome
with a review of the literature.
