An infant with a cystic, partially-differentiated nephroblastoma (CPDN
) also had contralateral nephroblastomatosis, diagnosed on ultrasound
and computerised tomography scans. Histology revealed bilateral nephro
blastomatosis in addition to the right-sided CPDN. While CPDN is gener
ally regarded as a tumour with a favourable prognosis, the association
with bilateral nephroblastomatosis in this patient raised certain pro
blems in management.
