Vd. Kuznetsov et al., INFLUENCE OF NUTRIENT MEDIA ON THE COMPOSITION OF THE LYTIC ENZYMES COMPLEX OF STREPTOMYCES LEVORIS, Microbiology, 62(3), 1993, pp. 292-295
A comparative investigation of the influence of casein, corn - soy-bea
n, and corn fermentative media on the biosynthesis of lytic enzymes by
Streptomyces levoris culture was made. The corn medium is shown to be
most favorable for production of endo-N-acetylmuramidase, an enzyme u
sed to obtain native biopolymers from the cell walls of streptococci a
nd other Gram-positive bacteria. The medium ensured a 15 - 17-fold inc
rease in the endo-N-acetylmuramidase yield, 4 - 5-fold increase in its
specific lytic activity, and the simplification of its isolation from
the culture liquid due to reduction of the component composition of t
he lytic enzymes complex of S. levoris, i.e., to the decrease in ''bal
last'' proteins content in the culture liquid.
