Unlike the approaches in [1-31 which treat wave fields over limited ti
mes, a technique is developed which enables one, using the principle o
f a limiting amplitude, to investigate the propagation and establishme
nt of wave fields which are generated in a laminated ideally elastic m
edium with plane parallel boundaries of separation by the harmonic osc
illations of the edges of a crack from an initial instant of time. The
need to take account of all the components of the stress tensor outsi
de of the crack in its plane is discussed.
