The effect of environment on the dynamics of intramolecular charge tra
nsfer (ICT) processes has been discussed. It has been shown that the c
oncept of polarity dependent rate of twisted ICT (TICT) process is app
licable to a wide variety of molecules. Further, several restricted en
vironments are found to influence the TICT processes markedly. The ext
raordinary sensitivity of the TICT processes has been utilised to prob
e ''local'' polarity of these restricted environments.
