Abstract
Changes made to the development length provisions to consider confinem ent effects are examined. The reasons why bars with small cover and wi th close spacing require longer development and splice lengths are pre sented. The elimination of the Class C splice is also addressed. Chang es in the top bar effect and the introduction of factors for epoxy-coa ted reinforcing bars are discussed. Sample problems illustrate usage o f the new provisions.
