Abstract
An acute disorder of the lower abdomen requires early clarification, w hether or not it is of gynaecological or surgical origin. With non-gyn aecological affections, beside diverticulitis, Crohn's disease, perfor ations, bowel obstructions, yersiniosis, vascular diseases (acute embo lism, thrombosis or dissection), urological disorders or hernias, acut e appendicitis has firstly to be considered. The systematic use of the different diagnostic instruments is discussed.
