F. Loschenberger et al., PLANT FORMATION FROM POLLEN OF TETRAPLOID WHEAT SPECIES AND TRITICUM-TAUSCHII, Cereal Research Communications, 21(2-3), 1993, pp. 133-139
Anther cultures were performed with T. tauschii, T. monococcum and 13
tetraploid wheat species including T. turgidum spp. durum. Embryos wer
e induced from pollen in all species except T monococcum. The tetraplo
id wheat species showed an average embryo induction rate of 4.5% based
on plated anthers. Mainly non-green pollen plantlets were regenerated
from T tauschii, T polonicum, T dicoccoides, T carthlicum, T turanicu
m, T. dicoccon, T. ispahanicum and T turgidum ssp. durum cv. ''MONDUR'
'. Average regeneration of embryos to plantlets was 22.4% in tetraploi
d wheat, but only 3% of the regenerated plantlets were green, all resu
lting from one accession of T dicoccon.
