S. Devotta et Vr. Pendyala, PREDICTION OF VOLUMETRIC AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF REFRIGERANTS- A SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURE, International journal of refrigeration, 17(2), 1994, pp. 94-100
Prediction of volumetric and thermodynamic data for some refrigerants
using their boiling points, and possibly also their critical propertie
s as the basic input data, has been attempted using corresponding stat
es and some established equations for various properties for a variety
of fluids. The properties predicted include vapour pressure, vapour a
nd liquid specific volumes, liquid and vapour heat capacities and late
nt heat of vaporization. The usefulness of this method has been exempl
ified with an analysis of an ideal Rankine refrigeration cycle. The de
rived cycle data for this comparative analysis were calculated both fr
om predicted thermodynamic data following the procedure evolved in thi
s analysis and from published data. The agreement between the two meth
ods is within 5% for HFC134a and CFC12.
