The coadsorption of CO and C2H4 on the Pd(110) surface has been studie
d by using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), high-resolution ele
ctron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and thermal desorption spectrosc
opy (TDS). A (3 X 2) LEED pattern is observed for the (CO+C2H4,)-coads
orbed Pd(110) surface. The (3 X 2) pattern is not observed for pure CO
or C2H4 adsorbed on the Pd(110) surface, and thus it is attributed to
the mixed structure of the adsorbed CO and C2H4,. A structural model
of the Pd(110)(3 X 2)-(CO+C2H4,) surface is proposed.
