Hu. Khan et Dc. Madhwal, GAS OIL FRACTION FROM ANKLESWAR CRUDE - INFLUENCE OF ACTIVATORS AND DILUENTS ON THE UREA ADDUCTION, Erdol und Kohle, Erdgas, Petrochemie vereinigt mit Brennstoff-Chemie, 46(11), 1993, pp. 415-417
The effectiveness of some compounds such as alcohols, acids, ketones a
nd amides etc. to act as activator in the formation of inclusion compo
unds between urea and n-alkanes present in a gas oil fraction (200-350
-degrees-C) derived from Ankleswar crude oil has been studied. It has
been observed that the effectiveness of the activators is greatly infl
uenced by the concentration, the type of hydrogen bonding and solubili
ty parameter (delta)/molar volume of the activator and is also a funct
ion of the nature of the solvent used. Also, for the above gas oil fra
ction N-methylformamide has been found to be a better activator than m
ethanol which uptil now has been reported to be the most effective act
ivator.
