Abstract
A previously published solution to the Seto-Frank equations (Mansfield , M. L. Polymer 1988, 29, 1755) that predicts an elliptical profile fo r the growing crystal can be derived using straightforward geometrical arguments and the known properties of trivial solutions. This simplif ied derivation clarifies several misconceptions generated by the origi nal derivation.
