Abstract
Genes I3 and A2 of the vaccinia virus (VV) strain L-IVP were cloned in bacterial expression vectors. Monospecific antisera were obtained to the products of these genes expressed in E. coli. By means of immunoch emical cross-analysis, two polypeptides of identical electrophoretic m obility comigrating with the major envelope protein p35 were detected in VV virion preparations. The major one is the product of gene I3, wh ereas the minor is encoded by gene A2.
