A. Boag et al., ANALYSIS OF SCATTERING FROM CYLINDERS WITH A PERIODICALLY CORRUGATED PERIPHERY USING A CURRENT-MODEL TECHNIQUE, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 41(9), 1993, pp. 1265-1272
A novel solution is presented for the problem of two-dimensional elect
romagnetic scattering from a circular cylinder with periodically corru
gated circumference. The application of the Floquet formalism is effec
ted by representing the incident field as a sum of fields, each one ob
eying a Floquet periodicity condition involving a different phase fact
or. Respective sets of fictitious sources, comprising rotationally per
iodic and properly phase-modulated electric current distributions, are
used to simulate the scattered field and the field in the cylinder re
gion Spectral and spatial formulations are presented. The solution pro
cedure is simple to implement and is applicable to cylinders with corr
ugations of arbitrary profile. The accuracy of the method has been dem
onstrated. It has also been shown that in the limiting case of low cor
rugation the results of our numerical solution agree with results obta
ined by an approximate analytic solution.
