C. Belanger et al., PRELIMINARY VALIDATION OF A GLOBAL DYADIC -INTERACTION SCORING SYSTEM, Canadian journal of behavioural science, 25(4), 1993, pp. 483-498
Results of a preliminary validation study for a new cotation global co
ding system in dyadic interactions are presented. Forty couples are di
vided on their satisfaction scores. Couples are filmed in a problem so
lving activity and their behaviors are coded on the 5 dimensions of th
e instrument, their tendency to withdraw, to dominate, to be critical,
supportive, or to demonstrate good problem solving abilities. The sys
tem uses timed coding units, so the interaction does not need to be tr
anscripted. Inter-judges reliability is adequate. Good temporal stabil
ity of the scores is also reported. Many correlations between the beha
viour of the wife and both her satisfaction and the marital adjustment
of her partner are underlined. The behaviour of the husband is not as
clearly related to his or his wife's satisfaction.
