Summary: Electroneurophysiological monitoring is employed during vario
us supratentorial surgical procedures. EEG and evoked potential monito
ring are used to detect and to facilitate the timely correction of cer
ebral ischemia during carotid endarterectomy and aneurysm surgery. Dir
ect cortical recording and stimulation is used to identify areas or co
rtex that would be likely to produce clinical deficits if removed. Ele
ctrocorticography is used to identify epileptogenic cortex intraoperat
ively during surgical treatment of epilepsy.
