Abstract
The reduction in concentrated KOH electrolyte of three allotropic form s of MnO2, ramsdellite (R), pyrolusite (p) and gamma-MnO2 (material de scribed as an intergrowth of ramsdellite and pyrolusite type blocks, R (1-x)P(x)), shows that the latter form has the highest reduction poten tial, demonstrating that structural disorder increases the Fermi-level energy of gamma-MnO2.
