Abstract
To have numerical measures of emotions. phychologists ask experts to m easure relative distance between the words that express emotions, and then attach to every emotion word a point on a plane in such a way tha t for every two emotion words, the distance between them is approximat ely equal to the distance between the corresponding points. It turns o ut that the resulting points form a circle. Why? In this article, we a nalyze this problem from a general geometric viewpoint and show that u nder some reasonable assumptions circles are really the best fit.
