The unprecedented double stellated octahedral cluster [Co12(mu3-S)14(m
u4-S)2(PEt3)10][TCNQ]2, has been isolated and characterized by an X-ra
y structure determination. The cation contains two stellated octahedra
l Co6S8 cores linked together through two mu4-S bridging ligands. The
tetracyanoquinodimethane anion exists as the [TCNQ]22- diner, exhibiti
ng the ring-over exocyclic bond type overlap.
