L. Challe et al., POLARIMETRIC RESTORATION OF RADAR TARGET SIGNATURE IN THE VHF RANGE IN SPITE OF MULTIPATH EFFECTS, Annales des telecommunications, 51(11-12), 1996, pp. 627-640
The simultaneous reception of two fixed polarisation states (horizonta
l and vertical) enables us to obtain a Jones vector for a transmitting
polarisation state. A second Jones vector is obtained for the transmi
tting orthogonal polarisation state, so that a full polarimetric 2 x 2
received voltage matrix is constructed. This matrix takes into accoun
t multipath propagation dire to ground reflection effects acting on th
e target scattering matrix. The aim of this study is to show how the p
olarised reflection coefficients for the earth's surface and the targe
t Euler parameters can be reconstructed from a reduced number of full
polarimetric received voltage matrices. We present the results obtaine
d by simulation and point out the limitations of such a system.
