The strategic adaptability is an essential condition for firms in the
contemporary economic environment. The presented article tends to give
a comprehensive view of key factors influencing the ability of the fi
rm to adapt itself to the fluctuations of the market and to changes of
the nature of economic and technological competition. There are some
main groups among the many factors. The article emphasizes the importa
nce of internal factors divided into two basic groups: organizational
and technological factors. Both groups are analyzed and their strategi
c meaning is evaluated. Possible solutions of the adaptability problem
consist mainly in the organizational domain and in improving of certa
in elements of the firm's strategic management.
