Organic and inorganic selenious compounds such as sodium selenate and
selenite, selenocystine and selenomethionine, were analysed by capilla
ry electrophoresis. The control of the electroosmotic flow by appropri
ate addition of TTAB to the background electrolyte (inversion of the e
lectroosmotic flow) and the adjustment of the pH (8.5) allowed us to f
astly separate the selenious compounds of interest. The analysis migra
tion times and corrected surface areas were studied in term of reprodu
cibility. Detection limits were in the range of the ppm for the studie
d organic and non-organic selenious compounds.
