Possibilities of STBS-based summators were studied up to pump intensit
ies approximately 0.2 GW/cm2 for an energy approximately 15 J and wave
length 1.06 mum. A simple numerical criterion was obtained to assess t
he stability of a laser system consisting of a master oscillator , amp
lifiers, and a summator. The analysis of spurious noise of the summato
r was made. It was experimentally shown that the summator had an energ
y efficiency of approximately 0.8 with the invariable diffractive dive
rgence of the amplified signal. Experimental operation of the summator
in the periodic-pulse regime was simulated.
