A sample holder for X-ray diffraction experiments on supercritical flu
ids has been constructed. The holder with Be windows of 2 mm thickness
has endured the inner sample pressure of up to 10 MPa, and the temper
ature of the sample has been changed in the range of 0-60-degrees-C. P
reliminary diffraction experiments for a supercritical CO2 fluid and a
high-pressured CO2 liquid near the critical point have been carried o
ut using the sample holder and a detector with an imaging plate. The t
otal accumulation time was about 1 h. Use of the present equipment ena
bles X-ray diffraction experiments on supercritical fluids to be carri
ed out very easily.
