Ld. Mirkin et Rc. Wong, INTRAUTERINE INFARCTION OF A PULMONARY SEGMENT IN A FULL-TERM NEWBORN- A CASE-REPORT, American journal of clinical pathology, 100(6), 1993, pp. 701-703
Intrauterine pulmonary infarction is extremely rare. In a series of 77
5 stillborn and newborn infants, only a few cases of acute pulmonary i
nfarction were reported. The authors present the findings from a full-
term infant who died at 9 hours of age of a chronic pulmonary infarcti
on. Several pathogenic mechanisms, including the entry of placental th
romboplastin into the fetal circulation, are discussed.
