Abstract
Precolumn derivatisation of sugars with isatoic anhydride forms anthra nilate derivatives. The anthranilate derivative imparts a UV chromopho ric group and also hydrophobicity to the compound which makes it usefu l for separation and detection of sugars by reverse-phase chromatograp hy. This was found to be a cheap and easy method for separation and de tection of sugars.
