Abstract
The reaction of Me2C(eta5-C5H4)(eta5-Flu)ZrCl2 (Flu = fluorenyl) with Li[BHEt3] produces red crystals Of [Me2C(C5H4)(Flu)Zr(mu-H)Cl]2.toluen e.2THF (2). In contrast to the structures of previously known ansa-zir conocenes, the fluorenyl moiety adopts an unusual eta3-allyl coordinat ion mode involving both the five-membered and one six-membered ring. T he complex is dimeric, with bridging hydrides and a short (3.0962(6) a ngstrom) Zr-Zr distance. The solid-state structure is maintained in so lution.
