Abstract
The synthesis of 1,2-bis(2-indenyl)ethane via a bis cycloalkylation-bi s elimination sequence on 1,4-bis(phenylsulfonyl)butane is presented. The dilithio salt derived from the bis(indene) was treated with TiCl3. 3THF to afford (ethylenebis(2-indenyl))titanium dichloride, the parent complex for ethylene-bridged bis(2-indenyl) systems.
