J. Bladek, THE APPLICATION OF LIQUID-CRYSTALS TO THE QUANTITATIVE-DETERMINATION OF ORGANIC-COMPOUNDS, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 6(6), 1993, pp. 487-491
The results are presented of studies on the possibilities of using liq
uid crystals to perform quantitative determinations of organic compoun
ds separated by TLC. Experiments have shown that the clearing points o
f nematic binary mixtures of the liquid crystal and the substances bei
ng determined varies linearly with the concentrations of the analytes
and that this behavior may be used far quantitative determination: qua
ntitative analysis reduces to simple measurement of the temperature at
which the spot of the substance to be determined appears as mapped on
a liquid crystalline detector.
