Abstract
A brief review of the morphology of ascostromata in the Balansieae is presented. Teleomorph development and morphology, including ascostroma and perithecia, of Balensia aristidae (Atk.) Diehl on Aristida purpur ascens Poir. is described. Details of transition from primary anamorph stroma to secondary perithecial stroma are given. A taxonomic descrip tion of the teleomorph is provided.
