C. Subileau et al., PHYLLACHORA-TORRENDIELLA (BATISTA) COMB-N OV RESPONSIBLE FOR LIXA-PEQUENA (COCONUT PALM TAR SPOT), Mycotaxon, 49, 1993, pp. 175-185
The diagnosis of Catacauma torrendiella Batista, agent of the tar spot
(''Lixa pequena''), foliar disease of the coconut palms in Brazil, is
supplemented with the new description of stromata which correspond to
spermogonia. The morphological characters of this fungus and Petrak's
consideration of the genus Catacauma, lead us to give it the name Phy
llachora torrendiella (Batista) comb. nov.. Specimen 4068, collected b
y Balansa agrees with the new combination Phyllachora torrendiella. Be
cause of an incorrect determination, specimen 4068 was cited along wit
h specimen 3965 in the protologue of Auerswaldia rimosa Speg. Specimen
3965 is selected as lectotype of Auerswaldia rimosa Speg., which is s
ynonymous with Sphaerodothis acrocomiae (Montagne) v. Arx et Muller, a
gent of the ''Lixa grande'' on coconut palms.
