NEW SPECIES OF CRYPTOPHIALE FROM NEW-ZEALAND AND NEW-CALEDONIA

Two new species of Cryptophiale, found during a study of dematiaceous hyphomycetes on dead leaves of various plants are described and figure d: C. pusilla on Astelia sp. and on Gahnia setifolia (A. Rich.) Hook. f. from New Zealand, and C. orthospora on Elaeocarpus dentatus (J.R. a nd G. Forst.) Vahl and Metrosideros kermadecensis W.R.B. Oliver from N ew Zealand and on Gahnia sp. from New Caledonia. C. manifesta Sutton a nd Hedges and C. udagawae Pirozynski and Ichinoe are recorded for the first time from New Zealand and New Caledonia, respectively.
