Abstract
A new tensile test method has been developed for high-temperature test ing of Al2O3 fibers. The advantage of this technique is that it enable s testing of ceramic fibers up to 1500-degrees-C while the entire samp le, including the grips, is within the hot zone. The most critical sta ge in the entire testing procedure is the alignment of test specimen w ith respect to the loading axis. The success rate of this testing meth od is currently around 60%.
