Abstract
Different approaches to the modelling and simulation of integrated bat ch operations are discussed and compared. The use of gPROMS, a new gen eral-purpose modelling package for combined discrete/continuous proces ses in this context is described. Typical applications of deterministi c and stochastic simulation are presented.
