K. Fjalestad et al., TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT-SYSTEM FOR REDUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL-POLLUTIONDISCHARGE, Computers & chemical engineering, 18, 1994, pp. 190000369-190000373
An integrated system for pollution control has been developed and is i
nstalled in a fertiliser plant. The aim of the system is to improve th
e quality control at all levels by streamlining the information flow f
rom the process to operators and management. The system is composed of
an operator support system that supplements the distributed control s
ystem, and a reporting and documentation system that generates reports
at several levers of detail, tailored to the needs of individual user
s. At several levels of detail, discharge data is compared to limits i
mposed by the authorities and by company policy. This enables rapid co
rrective action by operators and management. The system may form the b
asis of a more general tool for production quality management.
