APPLICATION OF SAME EQUATION BASED MODEL FROM STEADY-STATE DESIGN TO CONTROL-SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND OPERATOR TRAINING

We have applied essentially the same equation based model to a pair of distillation columns with difficult non ideal and azeotropic behaviou r, sequentially, for steady state design, control studies and operator training during a major, 'live' project. It is shown that carrying th e same model forward from one modelling mode to another in this way is efficient, saves time and an appropriate method that should be adopte d more widely in the chemical industry.
