J. Morud et S. Skogestad, EFFECTS OF RECYCLE ON DYNAMICS AND CONTROL OF CHEMICAL-PROCESSING PLANTS, Computers & chemical engineering, 18, 1994, pp. 190000529-190000534
The effect of recycle of mass and energy on the dynamic characteristic
s of a processing plant is examined. The introduction of recycle of ma
ss and energy may sometimes be considered analoguous to feedback, and
may change the plant eigenvalues and cause large time constants, insta
bility or complex nonlinear behavior. The effects are greatly influenc
ed by the choice of independent variables. Some simple effects are lis
ted which may give rise to complex behavior in a plant.
