Abstract
Colonization of myc(-) alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) nodulation genotyp es was accomplished under greenhouse conditions with indigenous VA myc orrhizal fungi from field soil. The greatest percent colonization was found in nod(+)fix(+) roots; however, nod(+)fix(-) roots did become co lonized and did produce arbuscules. Under growth room conditions, indi genous VA mycorrhizal fungi from field soil produced very few arbuscul es in the nod(+)fix(-) and nod(-)fix(-) roots. The differences in colo nization were attributed to the different light intensity or quality, and to the higher temperature of the greenhouse grown plants.
