Vk. Gins et Ev. Belyaeva, ACTIVITY OF THE NADP-REDUCING SYSTEM AND RIBULOSE-BISPHOSPHATE CARBOXYLASE IN ONTOGENY OF THE WHEAT FLAG LEAF, Russian plant physiology, 40(3), 1993, pp. 319-323
We investigated the potential for formation of the reducing agent NADP
H and rubisco activity in leaf of two cultivars of wheat (Triticum aes
tivum L.) with different productivity. It is demonstrated that changes
occur in activity of the NADP-reducing system and rubisco during the
process of leaf development. Changes are also clarified in the content
of chlorophyll, ferredoxin, plastocyanin, ferrodoxin-NAD(P)H oxidored
uctase, and rubisco, in the number of PSI reaction centers; and in the
ir ratio. It is hypothesized that unidirectional quantitative changes
in content of thylakoid membrane components on the terminal sector of
the electron transport chain and content of rubisco constitute the bas
is of regulation of the coupled processes of reducing agent formation
and CO2 assimilation in the chloroplasts.
