Abstract
During the past four decades, computer-based systems have evolved from simple data processing to knowledge systems. Knowledge systems are us eful in mimicking high level human functions such as reasoning and inf erence. There are two technologies, Expert Systems and Artificial Neur al Networks available to implement knowledge systems. This article bri efly explains the technologies and discusses the issues involved in th eir use in developing knowledge systems.
