This paper presents a dynamic compartment model that simulates the tra
nsfer of radionuclides through components of agricultural systems foll
owing deposition to ground, and predicts the resulting concentrations
in food products. The system of linear differential equations correspo
nding to this model was solved analytically for release in the dormant
season, before or after sowing, and for release in the growing season
as a single or time dependent deposition. Model predictions have also
been compared with levels I-131 and Cs-137 in grass and milk resultin
g from the Chernobyl accident.
