The thermometric characteristics of carbon fibres obtained by the carb
onization of viscose have been studied in the wide low-temperature ran
ge 300-0.3 K. It is shown that their resistance versus temperature dep
endences can be described by the simple formulae R approximately 1gT a
nd R approximately exp(T0/T)n, n < 1, and the magnetoresistance at 4.2
K under magnetic fields of up to 7 T is no more than 4%. The fibres s
tudied are very suitable for the fabrication of microminiature low-tem
perature sensors.
