Phyllodistomum rhamdiae n. sp. is described based on specimens collect
ed from the urinary bladder of freshwater catfishes, Rhamdia quelen, c
aught from the Guandu river, outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil. The new species is characterized by its sucker wi
dth ratio equal to 1:1, by the large size of the gonads and their spat
ial arrangement.
