M. Valenticperuzovic et al., DIFFERENCES OF CRANIOMANDIBULAR MUSCLE-ACTIVITY AND CERTAIN CEPHALOMETRIC PARAMETERS OF MANDIBLE BY SEX, Collegium antropologicum, 20, 1996, pp. 103-107
The aim of this experimental study was to investigate masticatory musc
le activity and some cephalometric data with special emphasis on sex d
ifferences. The investigation was performed in two stages, In the firs
t, electromyographic recordings of the temporalis and masseter muscles
were examined and in the second stage the mandibular parameters such
as angles of the mandible, length of the ramus and corpus of the mandi
ble were measured. The results were statistically evaluated by one-way
analysis of variance. Na statistically significant differences were o
btained between males and females for electromyographic variables. For
the cephalometric variables statistically significant difference at 9
5% level was obtained for the Length of the mandibular ramus.
