cis-[(dppm)(2)Cl2Ru], 1 (dppm=Ph(2)PCH(2)PPh(2)) reacts with H-C=C-CH(
OH)R and NaPF6 to give secondary allenylidene complexes trans-[(dppm)(
2)ClRu=C=C=CHR][PF6], 3 [R = Ph (a), p-Ph-Cl (b), p-PhOMe (c), or tran
s-CH=CHPh (d)]. Complex 3a treated with NaBH4 gives trans-[(dppm)(2)Cl
Ru-C=C-CH(2)Ph], 6a and the reaction of 3a-c with MeONa in MeOH afford
s trans-[(dppm)(2)(H)Ru-C=C-CH(OMe)R], 7a-c.
