Two cases of tuberculosis of the spleen are reported. This uncommon lo
calization usually occurs in the setting of disseminated tuberculosis
of the hematopoietic organs. Primary, isolated tuberculous abscess of
the spleen is exceedingly rare. Immunodeficiency is a risk factor. Cli
nical diagnosis is difficult. Ultrasound and computed tomography are u
seful but not conclusive. Bacteriological or histological documentatio
n is essential. At present, conservative treatment with antituberculou
s drugs is the mainstay of management.
