Ri. Karunakar et al., VARIETAL REACTION OF NONSENESCENT SORGHUMS TO THE PATHOGENS CAUSING ROOT AND STALK ROT OF SORGHUM IN INDIA, International journal of pest management, 39(3), 1993, pp. 343-346
Twenty-five non-senescent sorghum genotypes were screened for stalk ro
t reaction against the five stalk rot pathogens inoculated individuall
y by the toothpick inoculation method under field conditions. Five gen
otypes (Q 101, Q 102, Q 103, Q 104 and PQ 54) were found resistant (<5
% plants lodged) against all the five stalk rot pathogens. More greene
r leaf area at physiological maturity, confirmed the resistance in the
non-senescent sorghum genotypes. E 36-1, a stalk rot-resistant genoty
pe, showed resistance against all the pathogens except Fusarium monili
forme. There was strong positive correlation between all the stalk rot
disease evaluation parameters.
