Abstract
The thermodynamics of the Mg-Zn-RE system solutions were studied. It w as found that Mg-Zn and Mg-Y systems have small negative deviations fr om Raoult's Law, while the Y-Zn and Nd-Zn systems have very strong neg ative deviations. The thermodynamical nature of other systems were als o reviewed and similar results were deduced. It is suggested that the strong interactions between at least two components may cause the ther modynamical nature of solutions, from which the stable quasicrystals a re formed.
